Bank DA November 2026

Bank DA from November 2026 to January 2027 – Expected DA Rate, Calculation & Salary Impact

Two of the three deciding months are now declared. July 2026 CPI-IW came in at 153.2 and August 2026 at 154.4, which puts Bank DA under the 12th Bipartite Settlement on track for roughly 31% from November — up from the current 27.83%. Only the September 2026 index and the IBA circular remain.

What is the expected Bank DA from November 2026?

Bank DA from November 2026 to January 2027 is expected to be close to 31% of Basic Pay under the 12th Bipartite Settlement, against the current 27.83%. With July 2026 CPI-IW at 153.2 and August 2026 at 154.4 already declared, the realistic range is 30.80% to 31.30%. The Indian Banks' Association has not issued the circular yet — the September 2026 index, due at the end of October, will fix the final rate.

The two known months alone make a large rise unavoidable. For DA to come in below 31%, September would have to fall to about 154.49 or lower; for it to drop under 30%, September would have to collapse to 151.49 — nearly three points below August, a fall with no precedent in this series.

The three months that decide November 2026

DA for 1 November 2026 to 31 January 2027 is the average CPI-IW of July, August and September 2026, minus 123.03.

  • July 2026 Declared

    153.2

Due at the end of October 2026. The last input before the IBA circular.

September 2026 CPI-IW is not yet published. Every September figure used on this page is a clearly labelled assumption, not data. The final DA rate is fixed only by the official IBA circular.

Why the outcome is already narrow

July and August contribute 307.6 points between them, two-thirds of the quarterly total. That leaves September able to shift the three-month average by only a third of whatever it does. A one-point move in September changes the DA by roughly a third of a percentage point — which is why the plausible band has tightened to about half a point.

The September index also has a strong historical anchor. In 2025 it was 147.3, and year-on-year inflation has run between 4.46% and 4.96% through 2026. Applying that range to 147.3 puts September 2026 somewhere between roughly 153.9 and 154.6 — exactly the region the scenarios below cover.

Expected DA under four September scenarios

July (153.2) and August (154.4) are fixed in every row. Only the September assumption changes.

DA % = truncated three-month average CPI-IW − 123.03. September figures are assumptions, not data.

The spread across all four is half a percentage point — worth about ₹250 a month on a ₹50,000 basic. Whatever September brings, a bank employee can plan on a DA increase of roughly three percentage points.

What September would have to be for each round figure

Given July at 153.2 and August at 154.4, this is the September index each DA outcome needs.
If DA lands atQuarter average must beSeptember must beVersus August's 154.4

31.50%154.53155.991.59 points higher

Read the middle rows carefully: 31% needs September to be almost exactly level with August. That is why the central estimate sits right around 31% rather than comfortably above or below it.

How Bank DA is calculated under the 12th BPS

One line of arithmetic, applied afresh every quarter.

The formula

Under the 12th Bipartite Settlement and the 9th Joint Note, DA is expressed directly as a percentage of pay, taken from the CPI-IW series with base 2016 = 100. There are no slabs and no fractions carried forward.

DA % = Quarterly average CPI-IW − 123.03

123.03 is the index level at which DA is treated as nil — the point already built into the revised basic pay. The average is worked to two decimal places, which is why 150.8666 is read as 150.86.

Worked example — the current quarter

August to October 2026 DA was calculated from the April, May and June 2026 indices:

  • April 2026 CPI-IW = 149.9
  • May 2026 CPI-IW = 150.8
  • June 2026 CPI-IW = 151.9
  • Average = 150.86
  • DA = 150.86 − 123.03 = 27.83%

The November quarter repeats the same steps with July (153.2), August (154.4) and September 2026.

This page covers only employees and officers on 12th BPS / 9th Joint Note pay. Staff still governed by the 11th Bipartite Settlement have a separate slab-based calculation and a different DA percentage for the same quarter.

Jun 2026151.94.76%
Jul 2026153.24.57%
Aug 2026154.44.96%

The pace matters as much as the level. Between March and August 2026 the index climbed 5.3 points in five months, and inflation touched 4.96% in August — the highest reading in this twelve-month window. That acceleration is exactly why the November DA revision is set to be unusually large.

What CPI-IW actually measures

The index

The Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers is published monthly by the Labour Bureau, using retail prices collected from markets across 88 industrially important centres. It tracks a working-class household's actual basket — food, fuel, housing, clothing, schooling, transport. On the 2016 = 100 base, August's 154.4 means that basket costs 54.4% more than it did in 2016.

Why DA follows it, quarterly

DA exists to protect pay against price rise, so the settlement ties it directly to CPI-IW instead of reopening wage talks every time prices move. Revision is quarterly because monthly would mean reworking payroll twelve times a year, and annual would leave staff absorbing a full year of inflation first. It works downward too: DA fell from 21.20% to 19.97% in the May–July 2025 quarter when the index dipped.

Look down the change column: the largest quarterly increase so far under the 12th BPS is 2.80 percentage points, in November 2025. If the expected figure holds, November 2026 would exceed it and become the biggest single DA revision of this settlement — and the first time bank DA crosses 30%.

Frequently asked questions

Bank DA November 2026 — short, factual answers.

What is the expected Bank DA from November 2026?

Close to 31% of Basic Pay under the 12th Bipartite Settlement, against the current 27.83%. With July 2026 CPI-IW at 153.2 and August at 154.4 confirmed, the realistic range is 30.80% to 31.30%. This is an estimate — the IBA circular has not been issued.

Is November 2026 Bank DA officially announced?

No. As on 1 October 2026 the Indian Banks' Association has not issued a circular for the November 2026 to January 2027 quarter. Until it does, 27.83% remains the rate in force.

What is the August 2026 CPI-IW?

154.4 points on the 2016 = 100 series, released by the Labour Bureau on 30 September 2026. That is 1.2 points above July's 153.2, with year-on-year inflation of 4.96% — the highest monthly reading of the past year.

What CPI-IW months decide the November 2026 DA?

July, August and September 2026. The three indices are averaged and 123.03 is subtracted from that average. July (153.2) and August (154.4) are confirmed; September is due at the end of October 2026.

Will Bank DA cross 30% from November 2026?

Almost certainly. For DA to stay under 30%, the September 2026 index would have to fall to about 151.49 — nearly three points below August, a drop with no precedent in this series. Even a September at June's level would still produce roughly 30.1%.

Will Bank DA cross 31% from November 2026?

It is finely balanced. DA reaches 31% if September 2026 comes in at 154.49 or above — essentially level with August. A flat September gives 30.97%, a 0.2-point rise gives 31.03%. Either side of 31% is plausible, which is why the estimate is quoted as a range.

What is the current Bank DA in 2026?

27.83% of Basic Pay for August, September and October 2026 under the 12th Bipartite Settlement, notified by IBA on 3 August 2026. It replaced 25.70%, an increase of 2.13 percentage points.

How is DA calculated under the 12th Bipartite Settlement?

Average the CPI-IW (base 2016 = 100) for the three relevant months and subtract 123.03. The result is the DA percentage on Basic Pay. For the current quarter: (149.9 + 150.8 + 151.9) ÷ 3 = 150.86, and 150.86 − 123.03 = 27.83%.

How much will my salary increase if DA goes from 27.83% to about 31%?

That is a rise of roughly 3.20 percentage points, so the monthly gain is about 3.20% of Basic Pay. On ₹19,500 (Sub Staff stage 1) that is about ₹624; on ₹48,480 (JMGS-I stage 1) about ₹1,551; on ₹1,08,260 (MMGS-III stage 9) about ₹3,464; at the top of TEGS-VII, about ₹5,564. Use the cadre and scale selector above for your own stage.

Will this be the biggest DA hike under the 12th BPS?

If the estimate holds, yes. The largest quarterly increase so far is 2.80 percentage points (November 2025). An increase of around 3.20 points would exceed it, and would also be the first time bank DA under this settlement crosses 30%.

Does DA affect NPS contribution and gratuity?

Yes, both. NPS contributions are computed on Basic Pay plus DA, so a revision raises your 10% contribution and the bank's matching share — take-home rises by slightly less than the gross DA increase. Gratuity under the Payment of Gratuity Act is based on last drawn Basic Pay plus DA, subject to the statutory ceiling, so the rate in force at exit feeds directly into it.

When will IBA announce the November 2026 DA?

No date has been notified. The circular normally follows within days of the last CPI-IW release, which puts it in late October or early November 2026. The revised rate applies from 1 November 2026 whenever the circular is issued, and any gap is settled through arrears.
